Five Things to Do on Your iPhone Without Internet Access

Fun Things To Do On The iPhoneSome people can’t live without the Internet, and for good reason - many of us rely on Internet communication, project management, and general networking to actually earn their living.

Though the Internet has only been around for a short while, many of us are already making it our dominant source of work, entertainment, communication, and fact-digging.

So it’s understandable if you freak out a little bit when your iPhone isn’t getting a signal and you have no other way to access the Internet.

But before you freak out too hard and give yourself a migraine, take a few breaths, relax, and realize that there’s plenty you can do while you wait for the hotel to fix their network and you can’t get a signal. Here are just a few:

1. Catching up on reading.

The new iPhone 4 has an Ebook reader similar to that of the iPad - if you have this program, you should start out by downloading at least an Ebook or two to get you started - when you do have the Internet, it’s a good idea to stock up on these types of things. It’s not important that you download everything you could possibly read, but as long as you have something interesting and engaging waiting around somewhere within the depths of your iPhone’s CPU, you should be all right living without the Internet for an hour. Heck, simply using your iPhone will help you feel like you’re still connected, in a way.

Granted, this is no replacement for the Internet, especially if you have work that needs to be done, but it’s a good way to pass the time if someone else is taking care of the Internet problem.

2. Do the work that you can do without the Internet.

This isn’t exactly a pleasant solution, but it’s probably the most logical if you’ve got deadlines and no way to access the Internet for a few hours. If you can do any of the work you need to do without the Internet, go ahead and do it. Write a reply to an email and save it - even if you can’t send it, at least you can simply click it on its way when you do have the Internet.

Other options? Start working on that report document with whatever you have at your disposal. Catch up on emails you haven’t read - even if you can’t reply to them. If nothing else, you can write down an iPhone “to do” list right into your note application. There’s always some work to be done, even if you don’t think so initially.

3. Organize everything.

If you have so many unused apps on your touch screen that you don’t even know what half of them do, it’s time to organize things. This is a great way to get some “work” done, doing the necessary tidying that you otherwise wouldn’t do because you’ve got so many other things on your mind. It’s also a great way to put you back in a good mood, kind of like tidying up your workspace while you wait for a client to send you a fax.

4. Play games.

Come on, who doesn’t like a good game? If you’ve done all the work and organizing you think you can do, enjoy a game or two to pass the time until things are ready to go. It’s a great way to relax.

5. Turn off the iPhone.

Of course, not everything you do has to be iPhone-centralized. Just turn off the iPhone and ask yourself what you can do. If you’re stuck in a hotel, go down and ask the concierge about great ways to spend an hour or two.
