Introducing the iPhone 3G S – Part One

email

Adding major upgrades and significant updates to the previous generation of the iPhone, there's rumor going around that the "S" in the new iPhone 3GS simply stands for "steroids."  It would be a fitting title - a faster processor, increased storage space, stable pricing, and video recording/editing features provide plenty of incentive for iPhone die-hards to pick up the latest incarnation.

But do the new iPhone's features really put it light years ahead of the market, or is it simply another entry into the growing world of mobile gadgetry?  Let's take a deeper look and introduce you to the new iPhone.

Feature Upgrades

The first thing to examine isn't necessarily what's new, but what's better about the old stuff.  Customers might take note of the increased speed:  after some upgrades to the processor, the new 3G S is touted as being twice as fast as the 3G on average.  Apple hasn't been releasing much information about the processor itself, so this new performance remains to be seen on the release date of June 19th.

The price of a 16 gigabyte iPhone 3G S runs about the same for a Palm Pre at 8 GB, so there's plenty to be happy about in terms of space and storage.  That's good news for App fans who can't resist downloading hundreds of little programs as soon as they get their hands on a new iPhone.  Increased speed and space?  They'll take it.

New Features

Some new leaps were taken in the video recording department, where the 3G S provides advanced video recording and editing features a generation ahead of the old version.  A simple tap-tap system allows users to quickly trim their videos down to size, much like a smaller version of the popular iMovie program.

iPhone users will also be happy to see more cut-and-paste options, something that was conspicuously absent from iPhones in the past.  Together with more advanced search features through Spotlight, the overall usage of the iPhone should be more intuitive.
