iPhone Nano Reports Continue To Surface

iPhone NanoFollowing up on our initial article about a smaller, cheaper iPhone being secretly produced by Apple, we have yet another report from another 'source'.

Today, the Wall Street Journal has stated that 'Apple Inc. is working on the first of a new line of less-expensive iPhone's', along with other new projects and innovations, including a free version of their Mobile Me file sync service.

The iPhone Nano / iPhone Mini - Code Named 'N97'

One unnamed source said they saw a 'prototype' of the iPhone Nano last year, claiming it was planned to be a 'new addition' to the already comprehensive iPhone line-up. This unnamed iPhone (we've got bets on iPhone Nano or iPhone Mini), has been given a codename - N97, and would be available to carriers at half the wholesale price.

This move, analysts say, will give Apple a 'competitive edge' in the same price range as other smart phones currently available. Currently, there is no word on the possible release date of this new, mini iPhone, and we want to stress that these reports do not mean it's going to happen. It's entirely possible Apple will or already have scrapped the idea.

Then again, it's also possible that it's most definitely going to be produced, and released to the public. Only time will tell.

MobileMe To Be Improved.

Apple's online storage service, MobileMe, is possibly undergoing a complete renovation.

Mobile Me is a service which allows users to keep their files in one central location, and synchronize contacts and calenders amongst multiple computers. However, at the moment it is a somewhat pricey $99 per year to subscribe to the service. Apple is contemplating making MobileMe a free service, bringing users photos, movies, and music files into once place.

This is a fantastic idea for anyone with a large music and / or video collection, and it reduces the burden to constantly upgrade to devices with more and more memory. Instead, you would simply have all your iTunes music available to your iPhone, you iMac, Macbook or Mac Pro via the MobileMe service. What will be done (if anything) about copyright issues is another story, but if Apple carries these plans out, we believe it will be a bold move that will shake up the way people currently manage their multimedia files.
